Strawberry blondes have more fun!

I think I was 13 when my friend Laura B and I first colored our hair. We were in 7th grade and if I'm remembering correctly, we used Manic Panic's Purple Haze. Mum was thrilled. Please see the following...

I was hooked. Kinda like I hear tattoos are addicting, I was addicted to changing my hair! Throughout high school I taught myself how to cut / color and continued to experiment. I will never forget this one particular time sitting in the kitchen as my mom helped me go bleach blonde. Thanks mom for always supporting me =) Done black, yellow streaks in fire engine red and yes, even streaks of forest green. Ahh, the teenage years. I guess my favorite at the time was maroon because I stuck with my long red locks for quite a while until I decided I needed a chop and did a shoulder length bob. I let the years of crazy colors fade and added a lovely light brown (really wanted to have "normal" hair after a decade of coloring). So, for the last 4 years it grew out and I was au-natural. Until yesterday! I needed a change, and what better way to mix it up with a new do? It took Nick's funny / sweet encouragements, some magazines, a movie break, major hesitations, heating up leftover lunch and some more distractions until I could commit. It was a bit scary in the moment (and when I woke up this morning) but it's just hair. Right?! So here is what it looks like now...

Thank you L'Oreal Mega Blonde! Thought I had tried it all. But, eureka. Found a shade I've never had before. Can't say I'm going to leave it exactly this way though... want to add some low & highlights (see details below). Welp, there you have it!! Probably more then you ever wanted to know about l'histoire of Teenie's hair =)

Oy... Oy Oy

Welp. It's been one of those days. You know. When you wake up, you feel great and then all of a sudden... things start to go sour. Not just one isolated event, or three, I'm talking about every time you turn around! Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit. But how does that happen?!

Here is the good news. I still have half the day to survive yet... and these have made things MUCH easier =) They are the most ah-mazing cookies I've ever tasted. Seriously.

I bought them @ my local Whole Foods, but if you check out their website it looks like they have other store locations too. Alright. Back to the day I go (in ration) one cookie at a time =P

Mittwoch

Happy hump day! Went out with the office space crew last night. One of our clients surprised us a couple weeks ago and mailed 14 Houston's gift cards as a "thank you". There are only 6 of us in the office =) Even though we all brought a +1, ordered our share of drinks, starters, entrees, desserts AND left a huge tip... we still had 7 cards left! The boss (a bottle of red wine later) handed out the rest of these for us to use at another time. Wahoo!

After we gorged ourselves for 2.5 hours, a few of us strolled up Wilshire and popped into Renee's Courtyard Cafe. This bar / restaurant / late night club is owned by lady named Renee Forest. She created this super unique place (originally apartment & offices) after moving here from "da bronx" back in the 80's. All her style and funky, random decor was crazy! In a good way. The beers were dirt cheap and the play-list included lots of Michael Jackson, Bitter Sweet and White Stripes... loved it!

Attack of the film crew.

The chance of driving past a mystery set of white trailers with a mob of crew dressed in black working a maze of wires and lights when you live in LA is huge. Sometimes you might even catch a glimpse of this said movie / TV magic being filmed and it's possible famous stars. It can be kinda cool. I just saw the new blockbuster hit Inception over the weekend and realized I had watched the whole rainy "level one" white van chase scene being filmed from the rooftop of Takami (very yummy Japanese restaurant) last August... and didn't even know it!

BUT. When you wake up one morning, find a large Film LA notice on your door telling you that your whole street will be shut down for a current production, you wont have parking for a week and can't do anything about it!?! Not so cool. HBO's comedy 'Enlightened' will be taking over my little Venice street. Only cool thing about this : one of the characters is played by Luke Wilson. Who knows if he'll be there, but no harm in hoping right =) Yes, I can park in the lovely alley behind our house (the silver studded black fringed Harley Davidson van does it every night!) but I'm pretty sure so will everyone else who's rental doesn't come with a garage. Please parking angels... save a spot for me.

I WILL be getting to my posts about the Central America trip (sorta the reason I stared the blog in the first place). Haven't had a free moment to finish my whites no matter sit down, write & pick through my 1,700+ photos. Soon, I promise!

Oh, PS : Happy Friday the 13th... muhaha... what a perfect night to see some good friends play dead in Zombience (improve/musical/mayhem) @ the Elephant Theater!!!
